Lucía de la Huerta is a predoctoral researcher in the Bat Research Group of BiBio (Biodiversity and Bioindicators Research Group, Museum of Natural Sciences of Granollers), and a collaborator of the citizen science project BatMonitoring.org. She is currently conducting a study to assess the effects of natural events, such as eclipses, on bat activity.
She holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. She then came to Europe pursuing her professional development, doing first a two-semester Erasmus at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Catalonia, and then her Master in “Ecology, Monitoring and Management of Ecosystems” at the University of Burgogne Franche-Comté, in France.
During her master thesis, she joined the Museum of Natural Sciences of Granollers with the small mammals team, where she analyzed the effects of climate and land use changes on the population dynamics of the vole (Clethrionomys glareolus) in Catalonia. During this experience she also participated in the analysis of meso carnivore diets and collaborated in the field with the bat team. Acquiring experience in the field work of several taxa, data analysis with R, and Geographic Information System (GIS).
